The Department of Neurology was established in 1960s by the famous neurologist Professor Man-E Chen, and developed to be the Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital affiliated to Daping Hospital in 1998. The Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital has 150 ward beds. It consists of three clinical divisions, one neurological intensive care unit (NCU) and one clinical electrophysiology division. The Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital is a top neurology department in army and southwest China, with the most ward beds and biggest scale. Currently the Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital has more than 100 medical staffs, including 39 physicians, 60 nurses, 7 technicians, 6 professors, 7 associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, 7 master supervisors. 15 staffs have doctoral degree and 16 have master degree. The Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital is featured with the expertise in the prevention and treatment for acute cerebral vascular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease and sleeping disorders. The Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital is one of the first batch master degree subject authorizing subjects in 1981, and became a doctoral degree authorizing subject in 2001. The Cerebral Vascular Diseases Hospital has been the key subject of the Third Military Medical University and the Daping Hospital since 1990.
